About David Wachsman
For as long as I can remember, I have enjoyed helping and learning about others by discussing meaningful topics. Therapy has been an avenue for me to bridge those interests. I take it as a tremendous honor and privilege to help clients work through serious matters in their home lives, relationships, and/or careers.
My mother worked as a counselor for years, and I was able to witness the satisfaction that comes from helping others realize their full potential. I have a professional understanding of depression, anxiety, and distress—whether any of the above is the result of discord in a relationship, a lack of fulfillment in a career, or an unresolved trauma from the past. And I can empathize with the toll that such circumstances can take on mental health and happiness.
Exposure to other career fields eventually helped me gain clarity that the therapeutic setting is where I belong. By initially working in HR, I was able to see how individuals thrive when they find success in careers. While I do maintain a specialty in career counseling, I have been able to apply my experience and knowledge to the context of individual mental health counseling and couples counseling as well. In receiving my Master’s in Counseling, I was also able to further locate the connections between personal fulfillment and happiness.
Just as with finding success in a career, if you can find success in your relationships with your loved ones and yourself, you will find healing and be better equipped to find stability, joy, and purpose in life.
An Objective, Empathic, And Dynamic Approach To Counseling
Counseling offers the unbiased and supportive perspective of a therapist who is expertly trained on the brain’s development and the behavioral methods used to reduce problematic symptoms. With an in-depth understanding of how the brain works, I am prepared to balance scientific perspectives with empathic ones. By creating a warm environment, I engage my clients through active and compassionate listening.
My purpose as a therapist is to help others to identify their strengths and gain a better understanding of how they can use those strengths to achieve what they want out of life. While I realize that circumstances cannot always be fully ideal, I aim to get the best out of life that I can. When I’m not at work, I enjoy spending time with my family and my fiancé, with whom I have fostered a committed and happy relationship for over seven years. We enjoy time together by playing with our yellow lab, Buckley, or by traveling and taking in the majestic views of the American South and West.
If you are experiencing a setback in your career, your relationship, or your mental health in general, I can provide the guidance and perspective needed to cultivate healing and success. Between my advanced training in anxiety and depression treatment, my experience administering career assessments, and my certification as a level one Gottman Method practitioner, I am prepared to help you tackle whatever hurdles life may be putting in your way.
